The pumpkin spice latte is the reigning drink of autumn, but what about the vegans? Can you make a pumpkin spice latte? Of course you can! While the Starbucks PSL can be made vegan; its really just an overly sweet syrup. Why not drink an authentic pumpkin spice latte with autumn spices; suitable for vegans? Personally, I think most festive drinks are better when you DIY them, like this homemade vegan pumpkin spice latte or hot chocolate. While I love dropping by Starbucks every now and then, I really can’t stomach their season drinks anymore because of the sugar! This vegan pumpkin spice latte recipe is quicker and easier than you think.

What You Need To Make a Vegan Pumpkin Spice Latte

- 100ml of oat milk
- 1 tbs of pumpkin puree
- 2 tbs of maple syrup (or vegan sweetner of choice)
- 1 tsp of cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp of nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp of all spice
- espresso shot
These amounts are suitable for one vegan PSL, to serve more people then double up, triple up etc
Method
Mix together the spices and pumpkin pure in a glass until a paste forms. Then set to one side and brew your espresso. I have a coffee machine, but I detailed how to brew an espresso without a coffee machine in my gingerbread latte post.
There are a few ways you can do about frothing the milk.
If you have a coffee machine
Add your pumpkin spice paste to your milk jug, and pour in the oat milk. Forth the right consistency; or until the jug is too hot to old – which ever comes first (this was the role of thumb when I was a barista, using the crapping jugs!).
Pour your espresso into your mug, and then cover with a strainer. Pour your drink in.
There you have it, a homemade vegan pumpkin spice latte without lumps!
For a French Press
If you made your espresso in a French press, pour it into a mug.
Add your pumpkin puree and oat milk to a pot, and bring to the boil, then simmer. Once the milk is warm enough, take it off the heat. Place a strainer over the tip of your French press and pour the milk in. Then move the plunger up and down until frothy.
Pour over your espresso and enjoy your homemade vegan pumpkin spice latte!
With a milk frother
Follow the same steps as the French press, but strain into your mug and froth using your hand held frother!
